CHAMPAIGN — Illinois pulled within six points midway through the second half, but that was as close as the Illini’s rally got them Tuesday night against No. 10 Wisconsin. The Badgers responded to the Illinois run, extending their lead back to double digits in a 57-43 victory.
Maverick Morgan and Malcolm Hill scored 10 points apiece to lead the Illini. Ethan Happ paced Wisconsin with 14 points.

Wisconsin 37, Illinois 26 — 15:03 left in 2nd half
The crowd at The Farm desperately wants to cheer. The Orange Krush maintain a higher level throughout the game, of course, but a couple good moments in a row is enough to stir some of the rest of the fans. The Illini cutting their deficit to nine points after a jumper by Kipper Nichols was one of those moments.
Then Nigel Hayes silenced (most of) the crowd with a putback dunk, flying in for Wisconsin’s 12th offensive rebound of the game and putting the Badgers back up 11.
Wisconsin 33, Illinois 20 — Halftime
Here’s how the last 1:08 of the first half played out. Wisconsin missed five shots. Wisconsin also had offensive rebounds. The last one led to a buzzer-beating putback by Vitto Brown and a 13-point advantage for the badgers at the break. So, you know, not ideal.
