Meanwhile, Oklahoma City Thunder have had their own problems to deal with of late, and they’ve mostly been off the court. The team that sits in third spot in the Western Conference with an impressive 40-14 record had a bereavement in their family in the shape of assistant coach Monty Williams‘ wife.

Ingrid Williams passed away on Feb. 10 after being hurt in a car accident a day earlier and the Feb. 18 funeral was attended by a host of star names from the NBA, including LA Clippers coach Doc Rivers. “This is hard for my family, but this will work out,” Monty said during his eulogy. And my wife would punch me if I were to sit up here and whine about what is going on. That doesn’t take away the pain, but it will work out because God causes all things to work out. You just can’t quit; you can’t give in.”

Oklahoma City Thunder’s players will want to deliver a good performance for their assistant coach, which would be a fitting tribute to his late wife. They will be buoyed by the fact Russell is scoring points for fun this season, averaging 24.1 points per game. He will be joined by the ever mercurial Kevin Durant who has scored 27.7 points per game this season.
